Sing Do. Every day. Hear the little ear grow.

uear is a pocket music teacher for parents of toddlers. You sing the note Do, it tells you how close you were to a real Do, keeps the recording, and turns a few minutes a day into playful listening games.

Free, no account needed. Works in the browser on your phone.

How it works

Hear the real Do

Tap the big red Do. uear plays it as a piano, a bell and a flute, in your voice's octave — the "known Do" everything is measured against.

Sing it to your toddler

Hit record and sing Do. A wobbly needle shows how close you are while you sing; your child just hears you, warmly, on the same note every day.

See how close you got

uear finds the note in your recording and tells you, in cents, how far from Do it was. The original recording is kept, every time.

Watch it grow

Progress per note and per singer: how close, how often, how many days in a row. Start with Do; Re to Si are already there when you are ready.

Six ways to play with pitch

Ideas from early music education, each one a button in the app.

One note, every day

An anchor note your child hears from you — the same pitch at the same moments (breakfast, bath, bedtime). Consistency is the point, so uear checks that your Do really is Do.

Same note, many voices

Do on a piano, a bell, a flute; low and high. Hearing that Do stays Do whatever plays it is how a pitch becomes a name instead of a sound.

Find the note

A listening game: uear plays a note, your child taps its colour. It starts with just Do and Sol, and adds Mi, then the rest, as they get it.

Chord colours

In the spirit of the chord identification method developed in Japan for young children: three chords, each with a colour flag. Hear the chord, wave the flag.

Sing it back

When your child starts singing, record them too. Every take says who sang it, so you can watch their own Do settle.

Colours and friends

Each note has a colour and an animal friend — Do the Dog, Re the Reindeer, Mi the Mouse — so a two-year-old can answer before they can say "Sol".

Your recordings are yours

Every original is kept — sung in the app or uploaded later. They live on your phone, and with a free account on your other devices too. Nobody else can play them.

Questions parents ask

Can uear give my child perfect pitch?

Nobody can promise that. Absolute pitch is rare, it is found more often in people who began music very early, and researchers still disagree about how far it can be taught. What uear does is make the daily practice easy, consistent and measurable — and it is a lovely few minutes with your child either way.

I can't sing. Is it still for me?

Yes — that is what the needle is for. You hear the real Do, sing, and see whether you were high or low. Most parents get closer within a few days, and your progress is on the chart too.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works on this device without one, recordings included. Make a free account when you want your takes on a second phone or backed up; whatever you did as a guest comes with you.

Can I use a recording I made earlier?

Yes. Upload a voice memo or any audio file and uear scores it exactly like a take sung in the app, dated when it was recorded.

Where do the recordings go?

They stay on your device. With an account they are also stored on our server so they are on all your devices — only you can play them. Delete one and it is gone from both.

What does it cost?

Singing, scoring, progress and every game are free. The Family plan backs up all your original recordings to the cloud; the free plan backs up the first 100, and keeps the rest safe on your device.
